The top designers and contractors from Iowa, Kansas, Missouri and Nebraska took home awards from the Design-Build Institute of America last week for their "best in craft" projects across the region in 2016.
DBIA, a volunteer-run organization, promotes the use of the "design-build" approach as an innovative, cost-effective method that can be used in a variety of project types. As opposed to the traditional "design, bid, build" approach, a design-build team unifies designers and contractors under a single contract, inspiring a unified flow of work.
Here's a look at the honorees who exemplified this increasingly popular method.
