McCownGordon Construction has one again been certified as a Fortune Magazine Great Place to Work® and ranked in the nation’s “Top 100 Best Medium Workplaces in 2020.”
McCownGordon was the only company in Missouri to make the list, which is based on confidential survey feedback from 189,000 employees working in small and medium-sized businesses in the United States.
“Our culture, which is rooted in our core values of integrity, performance and relationships, plays a huge part in why McCownGordon made the Top 100 list,” said Nancy Whitworth, chief people officer for McCownGordon.
The Fortune ranking, is part of the magazine’s partnership with people analytics firm Great Place to Work. Employees answer more than sixty questions describing the extent to which their organization creates a place to work that is great for everyone.
According to Fortune, 85 percent of the evaluation is based on what employees say about their experiences of trust and reaching their full human potential as part of their organization, no matter who they are or what they do. This is analyzed based on each organization’s size, workforce makeup and what’s typical relative to peers in the industry.
“We place a priority on open and transparent communications across the organization. I think it also helps that we’re 100 percent employee-owned, so associates feel a sense of responsibility to the company, their colleagues and our clients because they know our success as a whole is tied to how we all work together, Whitworth said.
The remaining 15 percent is based on an assessment of all employees’ daily experiences of innovation, the company’s values and the effectiveness of their leaders to ensure they’re consistently experienced, according to the Fortune website.
