Keystone Construction Company and Gray Design Group have teamed up to create a $60 million premier facility for hockey and soccer athletes in the St. Louis metro area.
CarShield Sportsplex© AAA Hockey & Futbol facility, one of the largest indoor and outdoor sports complexes in the Midwest, will accommodate the growing CarShield AAA Hockey & Futbol clubs, serving over 500 kids and 45 teams in the St. Louis region.
The clubs include Nacho Novas' CarShield Futbol Program and J.P. Beilsten's elite AAA CarShield hockey program, which has produced alumni like future St. Louis Blues player Colin Ralph, recently ranked 48th in the NHL’s 2024 draft.
"It's been incredible to see the determination, excitement, and expertise from the CarShield team to develop a state-of-the-art sports facility for these athletes and their families. We are proud to be the architectural and interior design partner for this transformative project," said Steven Kuhlmann, principal at Gray Design Group.
The 325,000 SF CarShield Sportsplex© will feature four indoor turf soccer fields, two indoor ice rinks, team locker rooms, a pro shop, training and fitness spaces, a restaurant, bar, concessions, classrooms, and competition ice rinks. Outside, the facility will offer three turf soccer fields, concessions, a dining patio, and a children’s playground. The design includes large, clear-span structures that will allow for an open interior free of obstructions in the ice rink and soccer fields.
Construction is scheduled to begin in October, with completion expected by January 2026. Stock & Associates will serve as the civil engineer.
“Everyone knows CarShield AAA Hockey is bursting at the seams; and now this state-of-the-art Sportsplex with the on-site Prospects Hockey Academy will ensure J.P. Beilsten’s elite hockey players continue to join our 29 NCAA players, collegiate stars, and go professional,” said Nick Hamilton, CarShield CEO.
Hamilton also highlighted the benefits for the soccer community.
“On the futbol side, Nacho Novas is helming CarShield’s Futbol Club and already has players within the STL CITY organization, wins at Super Copa, Missouri President’s Cup, and the Missouri State Championship. And it will be great for St. Louis to host a lot more local, regional, state-level futbol competitions and year-round futbol school.”
“We are excited to be involved in the construction of another sports and entertainment facility. The CarShield team is very dedicated to providing not only the highest quality experience and education to the participants in their sports programs but also creating the best sports facility in the region,” said Bill Hardie, president of Keystone Construction Company.
CarShield, already a prominent figure in the St. Louis sports scene, sponsors the St. Louis Blues, St. Louis Cardinals, and CarShield Field, home of the O'Fallon Hoots Baseball Team.
