Third Street Social expands to Northland with third location

The restaurant is known for its classic American burgers and comfort food like fried chicken, chicken pot pie and shrimp and grits -- and serves lunch, dinner, daily happy hour and weekend brunch.

Restaurateurs Andy Lock and Domhnall Molloy, owners of Third Street Social, are expanding their restaurant to a third location as an anchor tenant of the $250 million mixed-use Metro North Crossing Development.

The development includes Woodstone, a recently-completed, $60 million luxury apartment complex, where the restaurant will occupy a prominent 7,000-SF ground-level corner space at 400 NW Legacy Drive in Kansas City, Mo.

Third Street Social is a popular locally-owned restaurant that opened its first location in downtown Lee’s Summit in the 70-year-old historic Arnold Hall building where former President Harry S. Truman announced the start of his political career at 123 SE 3rd Street. The street serves as the source of its name combined with Social in reference to the chef-driven social dining experience and lively bar.

Metro North Crossing, located on the former site of the Metro North Mall, is a significant development in the Northland area of Kansas City and includes several now-open tenants, including Hawaiian Brothers Island Grill and Whataburger. It also features T-Shotz, a 52,000-SF golf entertainment venue that opened in 2020.

Dan Horn, project manager at Metro North Crossing, LLC, expressed excitement about Third Street Social's arrival, stating that the Third Street Social team has been at the top of their list for years, adding, "This is a big deal for our project and this area of the Northland."

The third location of Third Street Social is set to open its doors in late fall 2023, marking the popular restaurant's debut in the Northland area. The restaurant's second location can be found at 5031 Main St. on the Country Club Plaza.

Third Street Social is a chef-driven American restaurant owned by longtime local restaurateurs Domhnall Molloy and Andy Lock and culinary director Po Wang. The restaurant group also owns Summit Grill with locations in Lee’s Summit, Kansas City’s Waldo neighborhood and Gladstone, as well as Pearl Tavern in Lee’s Summit; South of Summit and Boru Asian Eatery, both in Kansas City’s Waldo neighborhood.
