Shafer Kline & Warren sets up shop in Austin

Lenexa-based surveying and engineering firm Shafer, Kline & Warren is charting substantial growth with the opening of a new office in Austin, Texas.

As part of its strategic growth plan, the new office will focus on serving the infrastructure development and energy sectors in the Austin and San Antonio markets. Steve Timberlake, SKW's managing director of pipeline survey, will lead the Austin office.

“We believe the State of Texas, and Austin in particular, has a great future ahead of it,” SKW CEO Ron Petering said. “Steve’s breadth and depth of experience covers private development, infrastructure development, as well as oil and gas pipelines. This perfectly complements the comprehensive suite of solutions SKW is bringing to the Austin and San Antonio markets.”

Austin marks SKW's fourth office in the Midwest, including its Lenexa headquarters; a North Kansas City, Mo., location; and another in Tulsa, Okla.

“Austin is really a natural fit for SKW and our growth plan in Texas,” said Timberlake. “I am proud to call Austin home, and I am excited to lead our efforts here and serve the community’s growing needs.”

The announcement comes on the heels of the company's launch of its integrity construction services, a division that includes construction crews based in Tulsa and Kansas City. According to the firm, its development services and infrastructure services teams have grown significantly over the past year.

“Like the City of Austin, SKW’s growth is focused on our people,” said Petering. “When we were considering where to grow, we were driven to find a place where our employees wanted to be. Austin has a great community of professionals and is an attractive place for our people to work and live.”
