Shafer, Kline & Warren was recently recognized as a leading engineering firm when it took home a 2016 Engineering Excellence Award from the American Council of Engineering Companies. The group honors projects that demonstrate “an exceptional degree of innovation, complexity, achievement and value.”
SKW was awarded for its comprehensive upgrades to Fort Leavenworth’s Pershing Lift Station and aging wastewater collection system, which improves public health, safety and welfare while protecting the environment. SKW teamed up with Rodriguez Mechnical and using a design-build approach, met a 12-month project timeline where it provided survey and engineering solutions and observed the construction of a new gravity collection system, force main and lift station.
“We focused on creating solutions that would best serve the Fort, reduce maintenance and protect the environment,” SKW’s project lead Steve Baker said. “We are honored to have this project recognized among some of the top engineering projects of 2016.”
