Rose Design Build, Inc. recently completed a 2,400-SF renovation and 2,400-SF expansion of Marketplace Animal Hospital in Lenexa, Kan.
From managing the design —from concept to the construction permit and performing all aspects of construction from demo to client move-in, Rose Design Build provided a turnkey solution successfully.
Led by project architect Johan Ramirez, the design phase began in September 2020. Superintendent Mike Massey and his team oversaw the construction process through final completion in late December 2021.
Designing and constructing veterinary spaces is one of the specialties of Rose Design Build, a unique one-stop-shop based in Lenexa, Kan. who delivers medical, industrial and office projects, large and small.
“For Marketplace Animal Hospital, our primary goal was to improve patient flow from the entrance to reception to the exam rooms. To utilize the space to its greatest capacity, we carefully considered the relationship between space and functions to provide the perfect space to meet the client’s needs for daily operation,” said Ramirez.
“We relocated the treatment area and added a larger reception area, three exam rooms and a recovery room. We also added two private doctor's offices, a breakroom plus 2 ADA restrooms. Within their existing space, we enclosed the X-ray room, and created a space designated as a cat ward and business office,” Ramirez said.
To complete the interior finish work while controlling project costs, Rose Design Build collaborated with local interior design firm Workshop90 Interior Design to blend existing fixtures and finishes with new design elements.
The original stained mahogany wood was refurbished and extended along the corridor of the new exam rooms. Together with the new entry flooring, an 8” x 48” wood plank porcelain tile with a natural finish, the new expanded space in the front of the house combines rustic elements with modern finishes.
“Our team of experts could not have facilitated a more pleasant renovation and expansion. Sarah from Workshop90 brought a fresh feel to our new space while blending seamlessly with our existing finishes. Johan listened to our needs and applied her industry experience to maximize our workspace while perfecting the critical element of workflow,” said Marketplace owner and veterinarian Brian Godsey.
